Kids Time Fun

Kids Time Fun encourages early learning for children to learn and practice how to tell time and how to practice math involving time. Kids of all abilities can use this application because it provides full access to all the settings. So, each child in a classroom or at home can easily tailor the application to their own ability level before they use it.

There are six early learning activities: Tell Time, Elapsed Time, Time After, and Time Before, Set Time, and Mixed Mode. Tell Time shows a clock and asks the child what time is it? Elapsed Time shows two clocks and ask the child to figure out how much time has passed between the first clock and second clock. Time After shows a clock and then asks the child to figure out what the new time will be after a specific number of hours and minutes have passed. Time Before shows a clock and then asks the child to figure out what the new time will be before a specific number of hours and minutes. Set Time shows a "digital" or "numeric" time and asks the child to touch and move the hands on the clock to match the "numeric" time. Finally, in Mixed Mode the person is presented with a random activity and is challenged to really master all aspects of Learning to Tell Time.

Children can gain confidence by doing 10-50 practice problems with unlimited time, or they can build proficiency by seeing how many problems they can answer with a 1-5 minute time limit.

Additionally, one of four levels of difficulty can be selected to assist with different degrees of early learning: Yellow Belt, Green Belt, Red Belt, or Black Belt. These difficulty levels vary the complexity of the problems and the number of answer choices. For Yellow Belt, the time is varied by 30 minute intervals, the math is in the range of two hours, and the child has two answer choices. For Green Belt, the time is varied by 15 minute intervals, the math is in the range of four hours, and the child has three answer choices. For Red Belt, the time is varied by five minute intervals, the math is in the range of six hours, and the child has four answer choices. For Black Belt, the time is varied by one minute intervals, the math is any range, and the child has four answer choices.

"Love this app for teaching to recognize coins, count coins and even change as well as getting change back. My students will love this app - I teach special education students and money is so hard for them to understand. They will love this app!! My own children as well! Awesome job!"

"I really like this app. On top of being a great way to learn to recognize coins, I like that it also teaches about giving and getting change. The settings page gives me a lot of control over how difficult the play is. I started my daughter off on the lowest level which deals mainly with pennies, and as she is getting better, I am slowly making the play more difficult. She is becoming adept at making change. Great job!"

"This is a nice app for teaching kids to recognize and add coins and to give and receive change. My 7 year old daughter enjoys playing with the app and is quickly becoming a coin adding whiz."

Kids Coin Fun is an early learning money math application that teaches kids how count coins, identify coins, add up coins, and buy/sell items using United States coins. Kids Math Fun ~ Kindergarten

This application encourages Kindergarten children to practice the addition of two single digit (0-9) numbers, and the subtraction of two single digit (0-9) numbers (without negative answers).

Children can gain confidence by doing practice addition and subtraction problems with unlimited time, or they can build proficiency by selecting "Minute Math" to see how many problems they can answer with a time limit. The app defaults to 10 problems and 60 seconds, but these can be changed in the SETTINGS area of the iPhone/iPod Touch.

Teachers are using the Kids Math Fun applications in their classrooms to reinforce addition, subtraction, and basic math skills. Considering their comments, we added a “Double Dare” feature so children can expand their math skills by mastering the inverse relationship between addition and subtraction. A “Try Again” feature allows children to develop mastery by attempting a problem again if they get it wrong.

A new “Show Scores” button allows children and parents to see the high scores for all four regular and all four “Minute Math” activities.

A score board in the right hand corner, shows how many addition or subtraction problems have been completed along with the totals for correct and wrong answers. Graphics include: Smiling kids, kids playing outdoors, healthy fruit and vegetable snacks, boats, and buildings.

Total Practice Problems can be set between 5 and 100 problems, the Minute Math Timer can be set between 1/2 minute and 10 minutes, and High Scores can be cleared.

Clean Energy Hawaii

FEATURED BY APPLE AS "NEW AND NOTEWORTHY" and "WHAT'S HOT" IN BOTH THE EDUCATION AND EDUCATIONAL GAMES CATEGORIES Clean Energy Hawaii is an educational iPad App to learn about solar, wind, geothermal, hydro, and biomass clean energy. Seven fun activities are included in the App to inspire STEM exploration and inquiry: Tap into the geothermal heat of the earth. Explore the difference between sugar cane and switchgrass biomass. Build a custom wind farm and experiment with generators and wind speeds. Discover how flow, height, and turbines can change hydroelectric power production. Imagine that your iPad is a photovoltaic solar panel and position it correctly to generate 40 watts of power in locations around the world. Quiz yourself and learn how peak sun hours vary month to month for ten world locations. Add photovoltaic panels, clouds, and batteries to a solar farm to understand real world challenges for solar energy production.

For many of the activities, students may choose to use the scientific inquiry process to pose a question; develop a hypothesis; identify control, independent, and dependent variables; formulate a conclusion, and then pose further questions. The activities allow the students to change several variables and collect up to ten data points. When completed, students can turn in their data and scientific inquiry answers as an assignment to their teachers by email or by printing on an iPad compatible printer.

Clean energy refers to creating electricity from sources that are renewable or that create little or no pollution. The App was developed for teachers and home schooling parents to augment their existing Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) curriculum or to initiate new STEM learning and discovery. Hawaii is used as a portal because its energy goal is one of the most ambitious in the United States: 70% Clean Energy by 2030.
